DESCENDING INTO INCREASE

READ: JOHN 12:23-26
“Verily, verily, I say to you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone: but if it die, it brings forth much fruit” (John 12:24). Fruit bearing remains a major challenge to today’s Christians. Some even go to unbelievable extents to experience this. We shall go back to our mentor, role model and Lord to examine closely what He said on the subject matter. Pray that from now onwards, you shall increase. Recently, I worshipped with one of my sons who was celebrating his years anniversary in ministry. As we discussed, we went down memory lane. Just some years ago when I laid hand son him to commission him, there were only six members in his church. But today, they have expanded all over Africa. The Lord will multiply your ministry and the works of your hands in Jesus name.
What is the secret of increase? From the above verse, let us examine three words –‘fall’, ‘into’ and ‘ground’. To ‘fall’ is to descend continuously until either stopped by an obstacle or the object reaches the lowest level. If someone falls in the bathroom, his descent terminates as soon as he hits the bathroom floor. But if someone falls from the top of a staircase, he will keep rolling from step to step until either something terminates the fall, or he gets to the lowest rung of the staircase.
When the Almighty God talks of a corn of wheat falling to the ground, He is talking about one going all the way down. An ordinary pit still terminates on the ground. It is only the bottomless pit that is capable of sustaining a longer descent. According to Revelation 20:1-3, if you drop something into the bottomless pit, after 1000 years, it will continue its descent. That place is meant for the devil. For a corn of wheat to fall to the ground means the one who will increase must first descend in humility to a level beyond which he cannot go. In Philippians 2:5-8, Jesus Christ fell from the level of God the level of dying the most shameful death as a man – a descent that went through seven stages. He stopped where He did because there was no further depth He could go. Many believe they are humble but they are not. The extent of your rise, increase or promotion will depend on the depth of your fall. How humble are you? Every iota of pride, self-will and the flesh will hinder your descent. Before God takes you up, you must go down. Are you ready?
MEMORIZE: JOHN 12:24 –Verily, verily, I say to you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone: but if it die, it brings forth much fruit.
