JOY AND HAPPINESS

READ: PSALM 16:5-6
“You will show me the path of life: in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Psalm 16:11).
One thing billions of people have been searching for is joy. What most of them find is happiness. There is a great difference between these two. Joy is the mother of happiness. Happiness is momentary excitement that results from a favourable outing. For instance, when you get a breakthrough, or buy a brand new choice car, move to your own house or have just been promoted, you will be very happy. You may even celebrate it. Happiness is to be desired but joy is much more preferable.
The best the world can offer any man is happiness. Happiness is short lived – while the euphoria of the desired outcome lasts, but joy is lasting. Happiness is external and provoked by physical outcomes. Joy is internal and provoked by spiritual outcomes. Every search for joy through physical means will only deliver happiness. Having a wife or an additional certificate, car, house, contract or child can only deliver happiness. After a while it disappears. Some people in their desire to stay permanently happy go into drugs, alcohol and other mind bending substances. After they consume some, they feel like they are floating in cloud nine. They will be hallucinating and seeing satanic visions. Oh! They would desire to stay there! But Satan’s offer can only be short-lived. Before they know it, they are dumped far below where they took off from. And that causes serious depression. No wonder they get hooked on drugs to ‘return’ to an existence that operates only in their minds; whereas physically, they are still on the same spot.
Jesus is the true source of joy. He never offers you happiness because He knows its limitations. When you receive Jesus, being the manufacturer of joy, you will automatically have joy. Even when you have nothing – money or worldly goods, but you have Jesus, you would have obtained what the billionaire are searching for but cannot obtain. That automatically makes you richer than them. If you seek happiness you can never find joy. If you seek joy you will continue to have events. Jesus is the true source of joy. Stop seeking wealth, fame, and money. Seek Jesus from today.
MEMORIZE: PSALM 48:2 –Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great king.
