THE GIFT OF WORKING OF MIRACLES

READ: 1 KINGS 17:17-24
You can receive a miracle and you can have the gift of working miracles. As close as these are, they are nonetheless different. Take for instance the baker and the bread. Receiving a loaf of bread is not the same thing as being a baker. If you receive a miracle, you are comparable with one who received a loaf of bread. But if you have the gift of working of miracles you are comparable with the one who makes bread.
Miracles do not just happen. You require faith to receive one. Anyone who manifests faith can receive a miracle. Usually, many will not exercise their faith in God until they are pushed to the wall. If you have all the condiments to prepare a good meal at home but you insist that God should provide manna from heaven before you eat, be prepared to starve to death. That’s not faith but foolishness and presumption. But if you are legitimately pushed to the wall and have nowhere to turn, and you call on the “Help of the helpless”, He will respond. Jesus Christ is very kind and he loves to help but most times, He will have to wait for you to exhaust all you know before He does something. At least, this way no one shares His glory.
However, having the gift of working of miracles is far greater than just receiving a miracle. The presence of this gift makes daily miracles common place in your life. This gift is one of the most precious gifts. When you have it, you will see yourself doing what only God can do. Of the nine gifts of the Spirit, this is the most sought after. Why does God give this gift to His children? First, God uses the gift of working miracles to deliver His children from tight corners. When Elijah was in difficulty over the widow’s dead son, through this gift, the child came back to life (1 King 17:17-24). It helps to remove satanic obstructions, like Paul struck Elymas with blindness for trying to hinder the conversion of a governor (Acts 13:6-12). It also helps in administrating discipline like it happened to Ananias and Sapphira through Peter (Acts 5:9-10). It makes the church pure and undefiled (Acts 5:12-13). This gift assists in soul winning (Acts 5:14), demonstrates God’s supremacy over man, glorifies God and brings fear on unbelievers. You need this gift. Ask for it daily until it manifests in you.
MEMORIZE: ACTS 4:14 –And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.
