15:44-49
“And so it is written, The first man Adam was
made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit” (1 Corinthians 15:45).
When you were first born, you had fleshly carnal birth that caused you to develop all your senses in consonance with the law of sin. You were born a sinner and lived true to type. But when God looked at you, He saw the immense potential in your spirit man that was dead because you were separated from Him. Every sinner is limited. But in every sinner, there is a great spiritual potential that is limitless. Hence God asked you to come for a second birth – which is the birth of your spirit man.
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit” (John 3:6). When you were first born, your conception was in the womb of sin. This is why Psalm 51:5 says: “Behold, I was shapen in inequity, and in sin did my mother conceive me”. This also explains why every sinner sins naturally. You don’t have to be taught to sin before you indulge in it. Sin is already part of your formation and foundation. For instance, when a baby is hungry, and has cried for a while before the mother responds to breast feed him, some of them in a vengeful manner attempt to bite the nipple of their mother’s breast. Who taught that child that there is something like revenge? Nobody. It is already a part of his formation.
When you are born again, your conception is in the womb of the Spirit. You are reprocessed in the power of the Spirit and “shaped in righteousness.” Your foundation is established on Christ and automatically destined to live for God. Your orientation changes. Your focus moves from the flesh to the spirit. That is why it becomes natural for you to hate sin and love righteousness. Professing to be born again does not make you born again. Even if everyone calls you ‘brother’ or ‘sister’ as they would call a fellow born again Christian; that does not make you born again. It is a trip to the womb of the Spirit that makes you born again. Then your spirit man that was dead in sin is quickened in Christ. Also by that second birth, your spiritual potential that would otherwise have remained buried for life suddenly comes to life. They are released and you are automatically empowered to live a dual life – physical life through your body and a spiritual life through your spirit. Are you born again?
