GOD AND MAN COMPARED

READ: ROMANS 13:1-4
“For he is the minister of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he bears not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil” (Roman 13:4).
The term ‘minister of God’ tells us one or two things. First, it talks of two parties or personalities represented in man and God. These parties are located at two extreme ends – man on earth while God is in Heaven. Genesis 1:27-28 says man is created to dominate the earth while Isaiah 66:1 says heaven is God’s throne and the earth is His footstool. Heaven is controlled by God while earth is controlled by man therefore; man is still under God’s control. Heaven is higher than the earth just as God is higher than man.
Secondly, looking at the essence of both personalities, while man is dust (Genesis 3:9), God is the fullness that filled all in all (Ephesians 1:20-23). This means God is all in all while man is nothing in nothing. This is why when people boast about their plans for tomorrow, James 4:13-15 reminds them that the essence of their lives is not more than a vapour. Also, a look at the history of both shows that while man, according to Job 14:1-2 is of few days, God is from everlasting to everlasting (Psalm 90:1-2). Whatever you think you are, remember it is just for a few days. Whenever you want to team up with somebody, look for a partner who is eternal and not one who is of a few days.
There was a man named Moses Dada. This happened several years ago when Muslims were in power and Christians were highly discriminated against. The man wanted promotion but they told him to become a Muslim before he would be given. So he changed his name to Musa. Just before they made good their promise, those who promised him died and his hope was dashed. When God makes a promise, He lives to fulfil it. It may take some time. But it will surely come to pass. Has God made you some promises? He knows each of them and He keeps a track of them to ensure their fulfillment in your life. Any promise that derailed from being fulfilled has a reason. If you find out from Him, He will tell you why. A realization of the finiteness of man in comparison to the infinity of God should engender greater sobriety, humility, fear of God and caution in all you do. It is when God and men are linked together that the attributes of man take a new turn to become like God’s. Yield to God today.
MEMORIZE: ISAIAH 66:1 –Thus says the LORD, The heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool: where is the house that you build to Me? And where is the place of My rest?
