YOUR NEW FRUIT

READ: GALATIANS 5:22-26
After your second birth, your spirit man is automatically liberated to live a life of the Spirit. Before him lies a great spiritual life and destiny full of unbelievable possibilities where the supernatural or miraculous is common place. The degree to which such possibilities would be realized, however, is dependent on the willingness of the individual to cooperate with the Holy Spirit, and allow him to live His life through Him. Now you live dual lives – the physical and the spiritual.
“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25). A life in the Spirit has several things in common or at variance with the physical life we are used to. Galatians 5:19-21 provides a list of the fruits (works) of the flesh which shows what a carnal and unregenerate man will do, while in today’s reading, we see a set of new fruits operating in the born again Christian.
As a child, you are capable of manifesting all nine fruits of the Holy Spirit by reason of your spiritual birth. You have the capacity to love in hatred – provoking situations. You can be joyful even in the midst of sorrow. You can manifest inner peace and remain unmoved in very fretful and disturbing circumstances, etc. To what extent do you live by the fruit of the Spirit? If you still derive pleasure from any work of the flesh after you claimed to be born again, your salvation is highly questionable.
To live physically you require healthy meals. In the same way if your spirit man must grow, you need a healthy and regular spiritual diet – the unpolluted Word of god, the Bible. The one you feed the most will determine the one whose voice will be stronger, and who will be in control of you. If your flesh is well fed with physical food while your spirit man is least nourished with the Bible, your flesh will rule over your spirit man and thereby bottle up your spiritual potentials. If you want your spirit man to be fulfilled, feed it adequately with regular nutritious spiritual diet from God’s word and trim your attention of the flesh. Through regular weekly fasting, weaken the flesh but empower your spirit man. Your spiritual potential, which is your true destiny, will remain unexploited as long as your flesh has a voice. You cannot eat your cake and have it. You must sacrifice one for the other. Silence your flesh today so that you can live the life of the Spirit.
MEMORIZE: GALATIANS 5:25 –if we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
