DEADLY DESIRE

READ: PSALM 78:25-31
Another quality of a virgin is undefilement. It is one thing to be pure and another to remain pure. The difference between being pure and being undefiled is that the undefiled has opportunity to be defiled but refuses. The undefiled faces temptations to sin but resists; like Jesus who was tempted in every point but remained pure (Hebrews 4:15). The day a virgin is defiled, the essence of virginity goes with it. How can defilement come?
According to 2 Peter 1:4, defilement (corruption) comes through the lust of the flesh. When a girl wants more than her parents can afford, she will defile herself. When a minister wants to become what God has not yet approved for him to be, he will defile himself. When you want to attain a particular height or level which God has not yet ordained for you, you will defile yourself. John 3:27 says, “John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given from heaven.” Do not take what God has not given you. It is either God is giving you something or Satan is. God’s gifts enhance your spiritual growth. Satan’s gifts kill your spiritual life. You cannot act in the spirit and in the flesh at the same time. God’s blessings add no sorrow but Satan’s blessings are disguised curses.
“For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness” (Psalm 107:9).
Anytime God granted people their fleshly lust, they got judgement instead of blessing (Psalm 106:13-16). The desires of the Israelites in the wilderness were mainly predicated on lust so they got leanness in their souls. They received meat contrary to God’s plan and many of them died as a result. May you not desire what will kill you. The virgin will keep himself undefiled. To remain undefiled, you will have to put a knife to your throat (Proverbs 23:1-3). You will not be carried away by what is in vogue. The desires of others will not affect yours because you want to jealously guard your salvation. Satan is seeking to defile and destroy you. Take care to avoid his baits.
MEMORIZE: 1 CORINTHIANS 10:6 –Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
