FRUITFUL FIGHTS

READ: PSALM 24:7-10
Life is full of battles. There are some that we can win. There are others we cannot win. Wisdom therefore entails leaving the battles we cannot win and facing the ones where victory has already been assured us. Do the battles you are fighting carry the assurance of victory? If not, drop them now. Whenever a battle comes calling, before you respond, take preparatory steps. According to Proverbs 20:18, you can receive wise counsel on the proposed battle. David sought advice from God before going to war (1 Samuel 23:1-5). You need to consult the Man of war before going into any war (Exodus 15:3). Our reading calls Him the Lord of Hosts. He has never lost any war. He has all the strategies for fighting any war. If you can seek His advice, He will freely volunteer the winning strategy for the battle at hand.
Another reason you need to ask for His counsel concerning any battle that confronts you is that not all battles should be fought the normal way. In fact, to fight some battles, all you need do is praise His name, and you will obtain victory. To fight some other battles, He may ask you to do nothing, remain calm and the victory will come. At other times, He may ask you to walk around the enemy, or shout Halleluya, and the victory will be yours. How will you know the right strategy for each battle if you do not consult with Jehovah Nissi, the Man of war?
Anyway, whether you hear from God or not, there are some battles God says He has empowered you to win. All you have to do is stand on His word, live righteously and go into the battle. Your victory is already assured. For instance according to James 4:7, you can resist Satan and win. You can fight against demons, sicknesses, serpents and any poisonous substance in your food which you are ignorant of. And according to Mark 16:17-18, you will win. In Acts 16:31, you are assured of winning a battle for the salvation of the souls of every member of your family. 3 John 2 assures victory over ill-health and poverty. Every area the Lord has promised you victory from His word, you can fight and win. Simply meet His requirements; stand on those promises and the victory will be yours. From today do not waste time on fruitless fights. Do not sit on the fence either. The more fruitful fights you win, the more like Jesus, the Overcomer, you would become.
MEMORIZE: 1 SAMUEL 23:2 –Therefore David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lord said to David, Go, and smite the Philistines and save Keilah.
